Telling Your Story with Christina Sims
We all grow up with classic fairy tales, almost always with a happy ending. There is inevitably that one story that you relate to, that makes you feel something. Why did you love it so much? What inspired you about it?
What if I told you that your story could be a fairy tale one to tell, even if there are some hiccups throughout? The art of storytelling is a gift that everyone should be able to give.
Cristin Goss, an 8-year brand photographer turned confidence coach talks all things storytelling with Christina Sims, a personal branding coach and consultant, to help women magnify their brilliance and share their truths.
Who’s Christina Sims?
Meet Christina Sims. She’s a personal branding coach and consultant who helps women gain confidence. From the predominantly white small town of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, Christina, a Black woman, was raised in an environment that poorly reflected her existence. She learned to toughen her exterior because she was actively reminded that she did not belong. Moving to study at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Christina’s out-of-place feeling remained. Inspired by Wonder Woman and wanting to do it all–Christina’s world flipped when she experienced a near-death labor. With her miracle baby, Christina founded her own business after reclaiming her previously lost power, “Mom Meets Life.”
Christina prides herself in being the raw her. No matter the audience, or the not-so-perfect moments. Wanting nobody to feel like she once did, that isolated Black girl in the classroom, she uses her brand to empower women to be “damn proud of who they are.”
Well, how? In this episode, Cristin and Christina discuss:
Being who you want to be known for, and how exactly to do that
Being complacent with the institutions that don’t want to see you succeed, but not giving up
Noting and accepting that your journey is not always parallel with someone else’s–and that’s OK
