Motherhood. The challenges of making powerful decisions about our kids while not letting the pressure get to us. And now, digitally, these challenges inflate even more. At such a young age, kids are exposed to all things screens–particularly social media. It makes us questions, how much is too much, and what are the benefits, but also the downfalls.

For youths today, mental health has become significantly less taboo than ever. We must highlight the remarkability of the mental states of the next generation.

Cristin Goss, an 8-year brand photographer turned confidence coach, gets real with Dr. Miranda Verone, as they chat all things social media influence.

Meet Dr. Miranda Verone

An occupational therapist and researcher committed to supporting positive mental health among youth in schools, homes, and communities, Miranda’s passion led her to found her own educational consulting business, Vantage Educational Services, that strives to support youth's positive mental health everywhere to help ensure that kids learn, live, and play!

A Gen X-er, technology is an entirely new sphere for her. When talking about mental health on social media, Dr. Miranda Verone stresses that it is individualized. What works for one will not always work for all.

Join Dr. Verone and Cristin as they dive into social media’s pluses–and minuses, including:

  • The disconnection that arises through hyper-technological communication

  • The ability to indulge in previously labeled taboo topics such as mental health, body image, or self-esteem

  • The inability to differentiate reality and artificiality at such a young age when exposed to technology

  • The dangers of cyberbullying

  • How to cope with technology limit animosities
